Skid Control
Skid Control Courses
“In 2008 over 64,000 accidents resulting in personal injury involved a skid.”Losing control of your car on icy or wet roads is a frightening experience. Most people tend to panic and usually crash their car. The Skid Control Course is designed to help you recognise the signs of a car about to lose grip and develop instinctive corrective actions. We use BMW cars attached to hydraulic cradles which the instructor can alter to create front wheel, rear wheel and four wheel skid situations.
The course begins with a short briefing during which your instructor explains some of the technicalities relating to skid control. After an exhilarating demonstration drive in a skidding car, it’s your turn in the driving seat with the instructor alongside to teach potentially life-saving car control skills. The instructor will also cover techniques to avoid under steer, over steer and compare ABS and non-ABS braking techniques. The course culminates in a timed slalom event with trophies awarded to drivers who can best control a skidding car. All participants receive a certificate.
We find that this course is particularly beneficial for young and newly qualified drivers, as it gives them the opportunity to lose control and experience the consequences in a safe environment. This course is available as a gift voucher and makes a great idea for a Christmas or birthday present. Please call telephone number to purchase (we accept debit and credit payments).
